2. Long-Stay Visa (MVV + Residence Permit)

Stay Duration: More than 90 days

Purpose: Study, work, or join a partner/family member


There are 3 main long-stay visa categories:

a. Partner Visa (Spouse or Unmarried Partner)

For those in a serious relationship or marriage with a Dutch or EU national.

  • Requires proof of relationship

  • Civic integration exam often required

  • Sponsor must meet income requirements

b. Family Reunification Visa

For children or other family members joining a Dutch/EU citizen or a legal resident in the Netherlands.

c. Study or Work Visas

For students with admission from a Dutch institution or skilled workers hired by a company.
